Is there a real possibility of Newhaven having its own Museum once again? With the site of Victoria School soon to become vacant, we have the tantalising prospect of the site becoming the subject of a community asset transfer for the benefit of the people of Newhaven. A Newhaven Heritage Centre is on the horizon.

At some time in 2021, most likely at the beginning of the new Autumn tem, a new school able to accommodate the children of the area from pre-school onwards as well as an after-school club will open in Windrush Drive.
The community will want to commemorate the 178 years of service to Newhaven’s community of old and celebrate the new community that is forming. What better way to achieve that than to have the old and new communities come together for a Pageant and Festival.
A date has been set aside — Sunday August 15th 2021 — for this celebration. Parading from the Big Fish sculpture we hope to have built at the old Newhaven Lighthouse to Leith Lighthouse and Lighthouse Park at the end of the sea path that runs along Western Harbour, it will be a great spectacle ending in a fun family day out for everyone with Scottish Country Dancing, folk singing and fishy takeaway food.
Keep up to date with the plans as this project develops.
